BALTIMORE, MD – Kelly & Associates Insurance Group Chairman and Co-founder The Honorable Francis X. Kelly Jr. and Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation CEO Steve Salem recently joined WJZ-TV for Coffee With to discuss the Foundation’s recent efforts in transforming communities in Maryland and across the country.
Salem and Kelly, a former Ripken Foundation Board chairman and long-time Board member, shared how the Foundation is striving to make a difference in communities in need through the building of Youth Development Parks as well as STEM Centers (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) in schools at the local and national level. The Foundation is currently in the process of building its 100th Youth Development Park, which will be located in the Cherry Hill neighborhood of South Baltimore and has built 65 STEM Centers nationwide.
Celebrating its 20th year, the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation teams with those committed to helping underserved youth achieve their full potential. Since 2001, partnerships with successful youth-serving organizations have enabled the Foundation to reach more than 815,000 kids across the country and teach critical life lessons of leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship, personal responsibility and a strong work ethic.
